I am Jan Troskie, a mechanical designer with a passion for flying well designed aircraft. Over 3 decades, I've flown most types of aircraft including ultra lights and RC Models.
Eventually I obtained a Piper Comanche 260C Shark Nose and rebuilt it to pristine condition. During my 8 years as owner, I came to appreciate this aircraft for all its excellent qualities and superior performance.
I then decided to take a great design and a great aircraft and make it even better.
Francois Jordaan was contracted to help me with the design of the Ravin 500. He is a aeronautical engineer who's career includes design of Seeker Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (1982-83) CSIR Medium Speed Wind Tunnel (1985-88), Celair Eagle Light Aircraft, Celstar Aerobatic Glider and building of 2 off Lancair
kits, 2 off Thunder Mustang kits and a SeaWind Amphibian.
He is also the design engineer of the Slick 360
aerobatic aircraft.
